> Short answers to common questions about Glyph.

<details>
<summary>Is Glyph free?</summary>

Yes. The app, the server and every other part are free and open source (MIT /
Apache-2.0). No ads, no subscriptions, no tracking.
</details>

<details>
<summary>Why do some songs only play 30 seconds?</summary>

Some sources only allow official previews. Glyph prefers full songs from other
sources when it finds the same song there; enabling YouTube helps most.
</details>

<details>
<summary>Do I need an account?</summary>

No. Without one, your library stays on your computer. An account syncs it
between devices.
</details>

<details>
<summary>Can I bring my Spotify or YouTube Music library?</summary>

Yes, without logging in anywhere. **Settings › Transfer music** copies liked
songs and playlists from Spotify (copy the songs in the Spotify app and paste
them), YouTube Music (playlist links or a Google Takeout file), SoundCloud,
Deezer and Last.fm. See [Transfer music](using-glyph/transfer-music.md).
</details>

<details>
<summary>Can I listen offline?</summary>

Yes, for sources that allow downloads: songs, albums or whole playlists.
</details>

<details>
<summary>Where are my settings and library stored?</summary>

In Glyph's data folder (**Settings › Support › Data folder** opens it). See
[Settings file](using-glyph/config-file.md).
</details>

<details>
<summary>Can I run my own server?</summary>

Yes, on Cloudflare or your own machine. Start with the
[self-hosting overview](self-hosting/overview.md).
</details>

<details>
<summary>How do I report a bug?</summary>

Open an issue on [GitHub](https://github.com/glyphmusic/desktop/issues/new).
**Settings › Support › Copy diagnostic info** adds version and system details
without keys or personal data.
